Meet our Committee.
Please see contact details and roles of our committee. We are here to help with our wide range of skills and knowledge. We usually meet once a month.
I came to horses quite late in life, having begged and borrowed other people's ponies as a teenager. I never showed much promise on a horse....., being of a nervous disposition and sadly, style and finesse were a little thin on the ground. But it was something in me, and it just wouldn't go away, and soon I realised that nothing else hit the mark. To my husbands horror, it was always my ambition to own my dream horse one day.
After a few disasterous choices, I have found just the fella, some of you may already know him, his name is Cracker and he is very special. He is not everyone's cup of tea, but he is larger than life in character, feathers and girth size....! He has allowed me to build my confidence, and now I am able to enjoy all the riding club activities, and I know we're not competing at any great level, but we have a lot of fun, he puts a real smile on my face, and when I'm riding him, he makes me feel like I'm 15 again. I have been with the club since the beginning.
I have ridden since a child but have only been lucky enough to own
horses for the last fifteen years.
At present I am horseless but am hoping to rectify the situation in the Spring. It's been rather nice having a winter off from Mud and mucking out!
Within the club I organise Camp, as well as being the Club Treasurer.
I have been riding for around 19 yrs & have owned horses for the last 11 of those. Currently working part time, riding horses part time and training for Msc Animal Manipulation at the McTimoney College in Oxford,(now fully qualified!!) as well as trying to run 2 horses. Own 6 yr old warmblood cross who is being brought on & 12 year old Eventer. Have enjoyed competing at BD, BSJA, Team Chasing, but passion is for Eventing - currently in second season with BE with current horse after a fantastic first season! Have had a go at polo, western riding & carriage driving - my motto, 'will try anything once'!!
I started riding when I was ten and was lucky enough to own an amazing welsh cob as a teenager, doing everything together. After a break from owning horses while at university and training to be a teacher, I bought Whistle 6 years ago. It is safe to say he is my horse of a lifetime and we do everything from fun rides to hunting to dressage and eventing-occasionally British Eventing when I am feeling brave!
Anyone that knows us, will know that we do everything with a smile on our faces (and yes that includes Whistle!) and we are looking forward to meeting more club members!
I've been riding on and off all my life but have never been lucky enough to have a horse of my own, until very recently.
Joining P&BRC has been so good for me. It has really helped my confidence and encouraged me to do loads more stuff than I would have done otherwise.
I moved to Doniford from South East London 5 years ago, having just lost my young horse Schmiler, my pride and joy but on the complete rebound had found Ozzy, and what a find it has proven to be. Oz and I have come on leaps and bounds with the club and now will have a go at most things. I love my Ozzy to the moon and back, my kids and Hubby would say more than them but hey ho!
I also have Sunny Jim who will start his working life this year properly, having had a couple of false starts (no issues, he is just a giant taking his time to fill out), Allis a Suffolk Punch x TB and a little fat pony called ZigZag. I have an almost blind pony who lives in Scotland called Narla.
I have joined the committee to try and give something back into the club having benefitted so much from it already myself. I am looking forward to meeting all the new members in 2016 plus the many friends I have made with the club so far, again soon.

I started riding when I was 7 and not being lucky enough to own my own horse meant that I would have a go at most things so I could get my horsey fix! I’ve played polo, competed at endurance, show jumping & xc. I have owned my little ex-racer Spice for the last 6 years & as she’s no longer able to jump, a few years ago we discovered dressage. Since then I’ve become hooked & we both really enjoy learning & getting out & about to parties, particularly if there is music involved!
I joined the club in 2011 & recently decided to join the committee as we have benefited so much since joining & I wanted to help support this lovely friendly club.

I have been a member of the club since the beginning and joined the committee not long after. I have competed in most things (but only on a lower level!) from quadrille dressage to music, one day events and TREC to endurance. Having lost my horse of a lifetime 12 months ago, I have started from scratch again with a 3 year old Irish Draught called Rocky. He lives at the end of my garden, with an 11hh very cute rescue pony called World Horse Welfare Hector and the pair of them are certainly going to keep me busy for the next few years...!

Since a young age ponies and horses have always been part of my life, hobby and lifestyle which I absolutely love. I have been fortunate to have ridden since a child and had my first pony aged nine.
Over the years I have competed in all disciplines and have also hunted, team chased, galloped along beaches and enjoyed lovely hacks through the countryside. My most recent horse is my special girl "Daisy" who I have had so much fun with in the short time of owning her and long may our partnership continue.
