Meet our Committee.
Please see contact details and roles of our committee. We are here to help with our wide range of skills and knowledge. We usually meet once a month.
I came to horses quite late in life, having begged and borrowed other people's ponies as a teenager. I never showed much promise on a horse....., being of a nervous disposition and sadly, style and finesse were a little thin on the ground. But it was something in me, and it just wouldn't go away, and soon I realised that nothing else hit the mark. To my husbands horror, it was always my ambition to own my dream horse one day.
After a few disasterous choices, I have found just the fella, some of you may already know him, his name is Cracker and he is very special. He is not everyone's cup of tea, but he is larger than life in character, feathers and girth size....! He has allowed me to build my confidence, and now I am able to enjoy all the riding club activities, and I know we're not competing at any great level, but we have a lot of fun, he puts a real smile on my face, and when I'm riding him, he makes me feel like I'm 15 again. I have been with the club since the beginning.
I have ridden since a child but have only been lucky enough to own
horses for the last fifteen years.
Really enjoying life with Asti. Had a wonderful camp at Stockland Lovell with her this year.
Within the club I organise the Dressage competitions and Camp, as well as being the Club Treasurer.
I have been riding for around 19 yrs & have owned horses for the last 11 of those. Currently working part time, riding horses part time and training for Msc Animal Manipulation at the McTimoney College in Oxford,(now fully qualified!!) as well as trying to run 2 horses. Own 6 yr old warmblood cross who is being brought on & 12 year old Eventer. Have enjoyed competing at BD, BSJA, Team Chasing, but passion is for Eventing - currently in second season with BE with current horse after a fantastic first season! Have had a go at polo, western riding & carriage driving - my motto, 'will try anything once'!!
I started riding when I was ten and was lucky enough to own a phenomenal welsh cob as a teenager. While at uni, I was lucky enough to be trusted with a slightly quirky but beautifully schooled warmblood called Ari. He gave me the confidence to buy my horse of a lifetime, Whistle. He has a bit of a reputation in the club for being a bit of a monkey, but together we have done everything from British Eventing, to British dressage, fun rides and camps. Now semi retired, we (well he!) still enjoy terrorising the locals as we hack around the local village!
I moved to Doniford from South East London and joined the club almost immediately. Ozzy, my horse of a lifetime and I came on leaps and bounds with the club and would have a go at most things. but very sadly we had to say goodbye to Oz.
I now have Sunny Jim, although he is growing up, he has been slow to mature and is still very green but he is coming along nicely now and we have developed much more of a team this year. Sunny Jim is my accident prone oaf and I have learnt so much about dressing wounds with him. We have Allis, a Suffolk Punch x TB and I have an almost blind pony who lives in Scotland called Narla. We recently adopted Cherrie who had a very hard start to her life, but she is such a sweet mare and is settling in well.
I have joined the committee to try and give something back into the club having benefited so much from it already myself. I am looking forward to meeting all the new members plus the many friends I have made with the club so far, again soon.

I started riding when I was 7 and not being lucky enough to own my own horse meant that I would have a go at most things so I could get my horsey fix! I’ve played polo, competed at endurance, show jumping & xc. I have owned my little ex-racer Spice for the last 6 years & as she’s no longer able to jump, a few years ago we discovered dressage. Since then I’ve become hooked & we both really enjoy learning & getting out & about to parties, particularly if there is music involved!
I joined the club in 2011 & recently decided to join the committee as we have benefited so much since joining & I wanted to help support this lovely friendly club.

I don't have a typical 'horsey' background as I grew up in east London and learnt to ride when I was 11, on Hackney marshes... (and no that's not the name of the horse!). I then didn't ride again until my late 20's but tried to make up for it quickly and competed in most things from low level eventing to Endurance, Quadrille and TREC (my navigation skills are often talked about!).
I have been a member of the club since the beginning and joined the committee not long after. I've got a young pure Irish Draught that i'm starting to get out and about with, and a small rescue pony. They live at the end of my garden along with several rescue chickens!
