ABIT ABOUT US …..

PABRC was founded in 2006 by a few like-minded, horse-loving individuals, & has gone from strength to strength over the years since. We cover quite a large area of Somerset, with members coming from Exmoor in the west through to the Polden villages & Ashcott in the east, & everywhere in between. We are a British Riding Clubs affiliated club – for more information on what this means for our members please see the BRC Area 12 page.

Our main aims have always been to be a friendly, welcoming & supportive club; who’s members promote inclusion of everyone from grassroots level up to competitive riders. We also offer non-riding membership to those who don’t own their own horses but want to be involved in horsey events & activities, & want to support from the ground.

As a club we run monthly dressage & showjumping competitions & group flat, pole and jump lessons.  Throughout the year we also put on speciality clinics (eg. dressage test riding, trec, cross country & dressage to music), camps & other competitions including showing shows, combined training & for 2026 the return of the 4 Phase Competition!

We also run a variety of social events for club members such as pizza nights, skittles evenings & quizzes which are always a good excuse to get together & chat about horses if nothing else!

Everything we run is designed to put investment back into the club for the members, and as such member’s benefits include well subsidised/reduced cost lessons, competition entries & trips to horsey events.

Please feel free to have a good browse around our website & contact one of the committee members if you would like any further information.

What our members say

"I joined our super riding club some 12 years ago. New to horse ownership, I enjoyed many a club lesson and took part in my first ever horse camp during the seven years I had my precious Pingy Pony. The warmth, encouragement, dedication and enthusiasm of our committee members enabled me to broaden my pre PBRC experiences of hacking and endurance to be able to achieve on the flat and over jumps. On horseback and on the ground, there have been a wide variety of demos, talks and practical presentations which are both informative and well attended by similar minded friendly members, many of whom also enjoy volunteering at club events. All in all, PBRC is a fabulously warm community as reflected in high turn outs at events and a community I am very glad to be a member of'

"Paddy and I love being members of PABRC as it is a friendly, encouraging and fun club. The lessons and camps are great value and we always have fantastic instructors. I’ve achieved things I never thought possible and gained many friends along the way."

"I joined along with my daughter Lorraine who I shared our horse Plum with. We attended club camp for quite a few years, did dressage each month and attempted a bit of (very) low level jumping! The club is very friendly and members are all very encouraging of anything you do (or attempt to do!) and the fact that you can be as competitive OR NOT as you like - as in my case. Plum and I are both old ladies now and don't do much of anything these days but I very much enjoy being part of the club still. Would recommend membership to anyone."

"I joined PBRC in 2022 having recently moved to the area. I love that the club offers such a wide variety of events and training. Despite not being keen dressage riders the clubs summer evening show jumping was a brilliant addition to the calendar. Our speciality is TREC and they hold regular training that’s good value and easily accessible. We also attended our first riding club camp that was brilliant fun with new friends!"
